bisa butler
when you read about bisa butler you read about african/brightly coloured fabric. which, to me, just feels a bit racist, a bit misogynistic. what she is, is a textile artist, who describes herself as a storyteller, who breathes life and colour into pictures of long forgotten african americans and in doing so makes her art both contemporary and political, as well as being really accomplished in her craft. that's art for me.

helen terry
you can't be about browsing textile art and not find yourself tripping over helen terry. and with good reason. she has to be, in my opinion, one of the best working british artists today.

christine mauersberger
it' be easy to look at a couple of images by christine mauersberger and pigeonhole her as just another textile artist. that would be a mistake. some really interesting work and ideas going on here
