She was a lovely writer. I much enjoyed her novel 'Crocodile Soup'.

Ooo-er.

I suspect there is a lot of emotion in the poem and that possibly it may be personal, but I still find it strange that someone would rather a poem be not read than read. Is it me that's missing something here, or what?

it's a bit of an odd one tho not surprising in view of the likes of wendy cope. however, even allowing for that, i find their attitude to hospitals and hospice usage a bit manipulative and creepy.

a shame as it's a top poem and you'd think a wider presence would het a wider awareness. i may post on this later...

First off, if you want to read the poem Chemotherapy you can find it here, on the cancerimpact web site. You'll see that at the foot of the poem is the appropriate copyright and acknowledgement.

It's worth re-reading Wendy Cope's article in The Guardian, and that's a view I share.

After Julia died, her family and friends were keen that she should live on in her work, and the web site describes how to go about getting permission to reproduce it. This does not necessarily involve payment but it does mean getting permission (which I have never known to be withheld) and putting the appropriate copyright notice alongside it. If you have't already done so, I suggest you get in touch as described on Julia's website.

Missed it.Always late. Always missing out.

Frosty rebuff from Roger.Seems a shame/waste not to be able to read it.

thanks again roger for sending a link people can actually see the poem at.

wendy cope tho? had you read this website you'd find that's a view i have little sympathy with.

but each to their own and you can be assured that neither julia or wendy cope will be appearing in any guise here.
