nirvana covered

and then there's those musicians whose technique i can only dream of. this is a delight

mastodon and eloy casagrande

this is my favourite mastodon track by a country mile and i've always loved the drum part. here drumeo puts eloy casagrande thru his paces trying to get him to pick it up at speed. these drumeo videos are always great but i'm struck again with just how interesting/talented good drummers and their craft really is. a practice pad remains my limit! lol

how microphones work

if there's a better demonstration of how microphones pick up sound i haven't seen it!

bassline techniques

i like this vid because it illustrates (for me!) the need to practice with your gear until you understand the technique rather than the gear itself. similarly it doesn't matter if it's 'techno' and that's not your taste, it's about what your gear does, how you can learn that, and how you can apply it to your practice

volca keys as drone machine

play some melodies

there's loads of ukulele tutorials online but this guy, i think, is better and clearer than most. getting some melodies down is really freeing, esp if you're encouraging younger people

major pentatonic bass sesh

 this is handy.

octave mandolin

am getting to the end of my music buying and i think this could be my last instrument

*okay maybe a tr8s and some electronics but my last acoustic instrument. maybe! lol
