sadly

i fear a certain time of life has arrived. while i'm loving working on the picture i'm doing at the moment it does require quite a lot of close work. in combination with the need to be quite specific about the shades of colour that i'm using i'm finding my glasses need to be on then on the floor, balanced on the easel, perched on my head and falling off all of the same and narrowly avoiding stepping on them.

i need those things that hold your glasses around your neck. yes, the ones that wee old grannies use. some of them. preferably without the beads.

or i need to get my eyeballs lasered!

Ah there's lots of very groovy ones of them out there.

Luminous - go for luminous - then you won't lose them

Lasered it is then! Nobody , but nobody, can avoid looking a bit like Claire Rayner (RIP) with them abominable fughin things round their neck.I know because in a moment of weakness i tried them. Listen to me swiss, some things in life ,(and we are still alive),no matter how sensible, are just plain WRONG! Just say NO!

now wait a minute there. it may be i'm no longer as svelte as i once was but my moobs are as nothing compared with claire raynor's...

oh wait, i see what you're saying there. the lasers then..

Specs no 1 currently perched on head while reading screen with specs no 2

I also use a cord now and again. But I don't look a bit like Claire Rainer. Or do I?...

Surely not.

Varifocals would be an option, but I'm a skinflint.

You can also fold up the specs and hang them from the neck of your shirt, but they can drop out when you bend down.

From time to time I've used a bumbag to stick the reading glasses in, too.

i'd say no no no to them hanging around your neck, everything is better that this! though i wouldn't go for the laser either. but i am in no position to give other solutions, since i never have to remove mine, so i am kind of lucky, well if this could be called lucky.

i don't need reading glasses yet or varifocals would (and will be) the way to go.

roxana, as the years mount up things may change! ; )

or maybe i should throw myself into it - get the lanyard for my glasses, maybe some tweeds, a pipe and of course some form of cravat. nice...
