things to do in the snow 'chaos'

judging by the pictures it seems that as much as three inches of snow have fallen in some parts of england. as a result their society collapses, the whole of the bbc seem to be out filming scenes of snow, people walking about, inevitable child after child throwing snowballs and sledging in muddy, barely covered fields. because, no matter what we must never, ever forget the children.
my best friend s, who lives in the epicentre of any panic that is essex, has remained silent. i can only put this down to the same fulminating rage and exasperation she expressed the last time englandshire had a dusting of snow. they're a funny lot, the inglese, charming and lovely yes, but still strange in their southern ways.

here the rain is coming down with all the misery of a late dole cheque. i am alone, ensconced with paint, books and dvds. perfect...

in fairness i should point out that t, on reading this, will inevitably point out that any puzzlement i may have with her countryfolk is purely due to my 'rough scotch ways'. there'll be something about brutishness in there too

Hi, I'm browsing your blog for the first time and want to tell you about how I see the English and our (over)reaction to snow. The reason everything has closed down and nothing is running is because we are all so happy. In the middle of economic crisis and worry; here comes some snow and it's like playtime. We are all out talking to our neighbors, playing with our kids, wishing it was like this the whole time!

it must be like that episode of the simpsons where they ban tv! lol. i am very much taken with your version of events, the notion of england as a snow covered playground puts a smile on my face. thanks for that!
