bae bien-u

when i came across this image it was attributed to lee chang jung but given the massive prescence of the other lee chang jung i can't find it whatsoever. plus, i think it's much more likely that this may be an image belonging to the formidable bae bien-u who, if you're wanting some tree photography, is possibly the place you want to begin, start and finish. click the link. this guy's amazing.

sean cotter says he paints his landscapes from inside his head. sounds like an ideal approach

santiago caruso

more old school vibes with santiago caruso. i'd like to see these images in the flesh  so much can i almost smell the paint!

celine ranger

there's an old school quality to celine ranger. i feel when i'm looking at these i could be reading something like madame bovary the way her images provoke the feeling of story. and i just like the way she gets colour down.

medieval wound man

there's images that i just like that somehow don't seem to fit on here but i don't think i want to miss them out any more. so here's medieval wound man, a poor wee soul who's exposed to all manner of iniquity but echoes of whom can still be found in the likes of scorsese's gangs of new york or the (possibly more sinister) monadknock baton chart

svetlin vassilev

i have svetlin vassilev's moby dick but sadly, and esp as it looks like most of everything else is either out of print or hard to get, no others. these are the sort of images that  as a child i would've pored over, copied and lost myself in, then later, as an adult, believed this was exactly what a graphic novel should look like.
