fang lijun
i first came across fang lijun way back in the nineties in amsterdam i think. being in the nascent time of the internet i'd seen little and knew eben less about contemporary chinese art. i loved the colour and the joy of the figures and had this image on the wall in my study right up until two weeks ago.

pierre gonnord
i've often said, and o absolutely believe it, that you can tell almost instantly if an artists has made the effort to look at art, to study the craft if you like. and that's the feeling i get with pierre gonnord. there's a quality to these that says their maker has put his time in and i thank him for that...

eszter bornemisza
ester bornemisza raises the bar for textile art. these are breathtaking. i could go on and on (and on and on and on...) about the poor profile of textile art in the uk. but i shan't. just look at bornemisza's work....

donna ruff
you could, if you wanted to, describe donna ruff as a textile artist. you could, but it wouldn't describe the half of it....

jennifer stegmann
i do feel sometimes that it feels like i'm trawling the internet for images of blue. with texture. and while that may or may not be true i couldn't overlook this by jennifer stegmann. all the texture. all the colour. not much online about her beyond that. love this tho.

evan j de silva
keeping on with the ukelele vibe check this out - it's both profoundly depressing (for all thumbs players like me) and at the same time restores my faith in the world. i have the tab for this but when i play it it sounds like a cat has fallen into my ukelele! beautiful tone, beautiful touch - can't get tired of watching this.

linocut using xcut xpress
been an age since a craft post. so here's this one (note - third of a series). i actually own one of these xcut machine and i love it. note though that the long bed he shows doesn't come as part of the xcut package so you need to order it.

raku inoue
in addition to be great motivational advice for the bored, even if i'm ambiguous about picking flowers just to make something, you've got to love these insects by raku inoue. i couldn't embed the link but i'd highly recommend watching the video attached

ali banisadr
the linked article says far more about ali banisadr than i need to but looking at these it ticks all my aesthetic and art history boxes without really needing to do either.
