yazan halwani
looking at yazan halwani's work feels like looking at old movie posters from a generation and language i don't understand. which, very possibly, is an entirely mistaken interpretation.

transferring an image to a linocut bloock
i have to stress that this isn't a technique i've ever used but, if the image is transferred (and you don't mind a flipped image) without tearing the paper, it might be worth a try - you need to watch her follow up videos to see here whole process

buying a ukelele
i've become a bit of an evangelist for the ukelele recently. it's a great entry level instruments, brilliant for kids, isn't as intimidating as a guitar (but you can really improve your technique by 'playing' on the ukelele) and, most importantly, it's a fabulous instrument all on its own. just play one!
this is a wee guide to getting your first one.
*i feel it's only fair that as the owner of multiple guitars and ukeleles the n+1 rule fully applies

the buzzer
it should be no surprise that the swiss lounge has a partiality to all things russian. true, most of this might be based on a certain stereotypical view of a quality called russian-ness but i've had it since i was tiny and trying to learn the cyrillic alphabet from the tv. so i make no apologies.
lateley one of the more niche expressions of my russophilia has been short wave station uvb-76. what's it all about? i don't know and i don't care. but i do love it's grabbed a certain part of the population's imagination. if you're listening mr putin - keep this caper going!
